Oggi è giorno di bucato, al cottage shabby.

Nonostante io trovi adorabili questi accessori, non rimpiango che il loro utilizzo sia ad uso esclusivo della casa delle bambole (la lavatrice è molto meno affascinante da riprodurre in miniatura, ma per fortuna esiste!!!)
In questi giorni sto procedendo alla traduzione delle istruzioni di montaggio del nuovo cottage e per il momento non mi sembra così semplice come speravo...
Devo confessare che non vedo l'ora di vedere la struttura realizzata, ma proprio alla prima riga, la Greenleaf raccomanda:
"Niente fretta - niente panico!"
Perciò dovrò trattenere le velleità, e procedere con grandissima attenzione :-)

Today is laundry day, at the shabby cottage.
Although I find adorable these accessories, I do not regret that their use is for the exclusive use of the doll house (washing machine is much less exciting to play in miniature, but fortunately there exists!)
In these days, I am proceeding to the translation of the instructions for installing the new cottage and for the moment does not seem as simple as I hoped ...
I must confess that I can not wait to see the structure built, but just the first line, Greenleaf recommends:
"No hurry - no panic!"
So I have to hold back the aspirations, and proceed with the utmost attention :-)

Questo inverno, per esempio, ho voluto organizzare un tea party in perfetto stile inglese, come sarebbe piaciuto alla Regina Vittoria, e per settimane intere ho sperimentato le ricette di scones e sponge cake, senza averli mai assaggiati prima.

The Saturday afternoon, usually, in my house is dedicated to culinary experiments, sometimes of extraordinary recklessness. Tempo di tappeti / Rug time

Aubusson per me è sinonimo di tappeto.
Non un semplice tappeto, ma la quintessenza del tappeto: lusso, opulenza, eleganza, preziosità.
I delicati filati in seta danno vita a straordinari ramage floreali che è possibile ammirare solo da una certa distanza, perchè le dimensioni impressionanti di questi tesori sono una delle loro più favolose qualità. Osservando da vicino un esemplare antico di due o trecento anni, sembra quasi impossibile che essi siano stati intessuti a mano. Da qui, il loro inacessibile prezzo...

Aubusson, for me is synonymous with rug.
Not just a rug, but the quintessence of the rug: luxury, opulence, elegance, preciousness.
The delicate silk threads give rise to extraordinary floral foliage that you can only admire from a distance, because the impressive size of these treasures are one of their most fabulous quality. Looking closely at a sample of two or three hundred years old, it seems almost impossible that they were woven by hand. From here, their inaccessible price...

Per fortuna, il mondo il miniatura ci offre l'occasione di giocare con i nostri più reconditi desideri, e realizzarli con le nostre mani :-)
Io penso che sia questo il motivo per cui da sempre provo attrazione per le case di bambola: esse sono un concentrato di tutti i miei desideri, improvvisamente raggiungibili.
Io non penso che potrò mai avere nel mio appartamento uno di questi tappeti (e non mi riferisco, ovviamente, solo a problemi di spazio!!!) perciò io sono doppiamente felice di essere riuscita a creare delle buone copie in miniatura...
Le immagini di oggi si riferiscono a due grandi tappeti Aubusson a cui ho lavorato ultimamente.

Fortunately, the miniature world offers us the chance to play with our most hidden desires, and make them with our hands :-)
I think this is why I always feel attraction for dollhouses: they are a mix of all my desires, suddenly accessible.
I do not think I could ever have in my apartment one of these rugs (and I do not mean, of course, only because of space!) So I'm doubly happy to be able to create good copies in miniature ...
The pictures today are related to two large Aubusson rugs that I worked on recently.

 

Non ho nuove notizie riguardo al viaggio della nuova casetta delle bambole: lo scorso 11 maggio si trovava all'ufficio postale di Jersey City :-)

Nel frattempo, ho da sbrigare diversi lavori su commissione, perciò mi rimane poco tempo per tutto, come al solito.
Grazie a tutti per i commenti sul nuovo aspetto del blog: io ne sono molto soddisfatta: è bello trovare il coraggio di cambiare le cose, a partire da quelle piccole :-)

I have no new news about the voyage of the new doll house: the 11th of May, it was at the post office in Jersey City :-)
In the meantime, I am handling several custom order, so I have little time for everything, as usual.
Thanks to everyone for the comments on the new look of the blog: I am very satisfied with it: is nice to find the courage to change things, from small ones :-)

An early Merry Christmas to all

Sapete quanto mi piaccia la vecchia corrispondenza, per il grande potere evocativo che emana dalla carta ingiallita, dall'inchiostro sbiadito, dai francobolli fuori corso...
Ho preparato questa nuova scatola con una deliziosa raccolta di cartoline augurali di epoca vittoriana, quando usavano altre immagini e altre parole, per celebrare il Natale.
Fiori, gatti e scarpe, chissà perchè, andavano per la maggiore, e oggi essi fanno quasi tenerezza, a confronto con le odierne icone natalizie...
Ho la fortuna di possedere qualchuna di queste cartoline (magari potrei mostrarvele, prossimamente...) e posso assicurarvi che esse conservano e trasmettono il vero spirito natalizio, sebbene quest'anno sarà dura entrare nell'umore giusto...
Perciò, ho voluto esorcizzare il mio lato "Ebenezer Scrooge" con questa piccola raccolta che, spero, coinvolgerà anche voi con lo stesso spirito positivo :-)

Do you know how much I like the old correspondence, for the great evocative power that emanates from the yellowed paper, from the faded ink and the stamps off over ...
I prepared this new box with a lovely collection of greeting cards from the Victorian era, when they were using more pictures and other words, to celebrate Christmas.
Flowers, cats and shoes, for some reason, were the most popular, and today they are almost tender, compared with today's Christmas icons ...
I am fortunate enough to have some one of these cards (maybe I could show them in the near future ...) and I can assure you that they preserve and transmit the true Christmas spirit, although this year it will be hard to enter in the mood ...
So, I wanted to exorcise my "Ebenezer Scrooge" side with this small collection which I hope also will involve you with the same positive spirit :-)

Profumo di Provenza - Scent of Provence

Il profumo di lavanda mi accompagna da tutta la vita: mia mamma usa ancora preparare i sacchettini, che rinnova ogni anno, con i fiori profumati, per donare il delicato sentore alla biancheria riposta nei cassetti...

Per il mio matrimonio, tra i doni più belli ricevuti, sono stati due bellissimi sacchetti porta lavanda di lino, finemente ricamati con il mio monogramma.
Questo per dimostrare quanto, il tempo passi e la tradizione continui, perchè le emozioni legate ai profumi ed ai sapori, riportano il nostro cuore al tempo più felice, basta chiudere gli occhi...
Ho preparato questo delicato lavamani proprio pensando all'atmosfera a cui il profumo e il colore della lavanda mi riportano sempre.
Tempi in cui non c'era l'acqua corrente in casa, ma si usava rifare il letto, appoggiando sui cuscini le federe con ricamato "bonjour" and "bonne nuit" ...
Anche io voglio augurarvi buona notte o buona giornata nel modo più dolce :-)

For my wedding, one of the most beautiful gifts received were two beautiful lavender linen pouches, finely embroidered with my monogram.
This is to show how the time passes and the tradition continues, because the emotions related to smells and tastes, bring our hearts to happier time, just close your eyes ...
I prepared this delicate hand-washing just thinking about the atmosphere in which the color and scent of lavender always brings me back.
Times when there was no running water at home, but they used to make the bed, resting on cushions embroidered pillowcases with "bonjour" and "bonne nuit"...
Also I want to wish you good night or good day in the sweetest way :-)

Piccola posta - Small-mail

Molte volte vi ho già confessato il mio lato feticista, che mi spinge ad aggirarmi, come in trans, nei mercatini dell'usato, alla ricerca di piccoli tesori appartenuti a qualcuno lontano nel tempo e nello spazio, eppure vicino a me tramite un oggetto: una chiave arrugginita, un paio di occhiali, una vecchia tovaglia macchiata, una tazza da tè sbeccata, un cucchiaino storto, un libro spiegazzato.

E poi c'è la posta.

Vecchie lettere ingiallite, scritte con inchiostro e pennino, macchiate di lacrime e di pioggia, buste che contengono fiori secchi, ciocche di capelli, versi d'amore; cartoline dei tempi andati da cui occhieggiano belle signore in abito lungo e parasole, bambini e pulcini, cestini di uova...
Io adoro la vecchia posta!!!
Per pochi spiccioli, mi porto a casa lettere di persone che non conosco, che hanno vissuto le loro vite quando io ancora non esistevo, e continuano a vivere tra le righe delle loro lettere...
Ho riprodotto varie volte la mia scatola di vecchia posta, senza mai riuscire ad intrappolare l'essenza misteriosa racchiusa nella carta...

I adore the old post!
For a few pennies, I take home letters from people who do not know, who have lived their lives when I still did not exist, and continue to live between the lines of their letters ...
I played many times my old mail box, without ever being able to trap the mysterious essence contained in the paper ...

Questa prima, grigia domenica autunnale, volge al termine.
Abbraccio tutti con grandissimo affetto: siete gli unici amici a cui io possa confidare i miei segreti con la certezza di essere compresa (almeno quando si tratta di scatole in miniatura che spuntano da sotto un letto...)

Ultime fatiche - Latest works

Ciao a tutti, questa settimana è volata tra incombenze di ogni sorta, tra cui anche il primo giorno di scuola materna della mia bambina: non vi nascondo che ero molto emozionata e un po' triste, all'idea di dovermi separare da lei... Ma poi, dopo aver avuto alcune ore tutte per me, per la prima volta dopo quasi tre anni, ho rivalutato la prospettiva :-)
Così, ho potuto lavorare a diversi progetti che hanno preso forma durante l'estate, molti lavori su commissione che mi terranno impegnata per gran parte dell'autunno.
Ho avuto modo di esplorare le varie opzioni della mia stampante (eterna sconosciuta), al fine di individuare quella ottimale e oggi posso presentare la nuova collezione di libri "home decor", che mi sembrano essere riusciti piuttosto bene.

Hello everyone, this week has flown in all sorts of tasks, including the first day of kindergarten for my little girl: I will not conceal that I was very excited and a little sad, to the idea of having to separate from her ... But then, after having had a few hours to myself, for the first time in almost three years, I reassessed the perspective :-)
So, I could work on several projects that have taken shape during the summer, many commissioned works that will keep me busy for most of autumn.
I had the opportunity to explore various options for my printer (eternal unknown), in order to identify the optimal and today I present the new collection of books "home decor", they seems to have come out pretty well.

Per confezionare questi mini libri ci vogliono svariate ore di lavoro e concentrazione proprio perchè, non essendo stampati all'interno, essi devono avere un aspetto più che mai realistico e convincente all'esterno.
Però poi è bello vedere il risultato sugli scaffali :-)

To produce these mini books, it takes many hours of work and concentration just because, not being printed on the inside, they must look more than ever realistic and convincing on the outside.

Amo molto le conchiglie, che con le loro geometrie voluttuose, evocano profondità misteriose ed inaccessibili...
Io vivo su un'isola, perciò il mare ce l'ho dentro: nel bene e nel male, è un elemento che fa parte della mia vita, che separa e che unisce, e a volte è capace di donare straordinari tesori a chi ha la pazienza di cercarli :-)

Continua la mia esplorazione nel fantastico mondo del colore bianco, con questa nuova serie di mobili e accessori dedicati alla cucina: ogni volta che allestisco il set fotografico all'interno del cottage, rimpiango di averlo costruito con solo due stanze...
Sono talmente tante le possibilità, che arredare due soli ambienti diventa davvero una sfida...
Naturalmente, per quanto riguarda la sistemazione definitiva, sono ancora del tutto indecisa, così continuo a spostare e sostituire, in attesa dell'idea illuminante, e il negozio Etsy si arricchisce di nuovi articoli, mentre il Cottage è in perenne subbuglio!
Quando mio marito, la sera, torna a casa, trova i piccoli mobili disseminati per tutto il soggiorno e mi chiede, immancabilmente:
"Un altro trasloco?"
Intanto, mi piace condividere con voi tutte le alternative riguardo alla mia idea di "shabby": bianco, romantico, vintage... ma sempre sempre sempre elegante!

Per quanto riguarda la nuova casa, la Casa Georgiana, nulla è cambiato: continua la mia ricerca di fonti bibliografiche ed immagini (a tal proposito, ringrazio tutti coloro che mi hanno scritto segnalandomi utilissime letture cartacee e virtuali: siete dei tesori!!!) e continua la mia raccolta di mobili in kit, dato che mi è venuta la PESSIMA idea di voler costruire anche i complementi d'arredo; con questa decisione, vedo spostarsi pericolosamente verso i trent'anni, il termine per la conclusione dei lavori...
Speriamo non ci manchi la pazienza, a me e a voi :-)

Of course, regarding the final settlement, are still entirely undecided, so I continue to move and change, illuminating the idea on hold, and Etsy shop has been enhanced with new products, while the Cottage is in constant turmoil!
When my husband, in the evening, back at home, occasional furniture is scattered around the living room and asks me, without fail:
"Another move?"
Meanwhile, I like to share with you about all the alternatives to my idea of ​​"shabby": white, romantic, vintage ... but always, always, always elegant!

As for the new house, the Georgian House, nothing has changed: still looking for my bibliography and images (in this regard, I thank all those who have written to me informing us of useful print and virtual lectures: you're a treasure!) and continue my collection of RTA furniture, since I got the bad idea of seeking to build even the furnishings, with this decision, I move dangerously close to thirty, the deadline for completion of the work .. .
