Nice Sunday to all

Cari tutti, vecchi e nuovi lettori (grazie di esservi aggiunti nonostante la prolungata e reiterata latitanza), stamattina mi sono imposta di alzarmi all'alba, per cercare di leggere e scrivere qualcosa, fare qualche saluto, partecipare a qualche giveaway, insomma: blogging :-)
Ah, che bello... 

Il prossimo 17, Elisa rientrerà a scuola e, fino a quel momento, avrò poche speranze di potermi dedicare agli aggiornamenti (che ci sono stati) sul Robin Nest Cottage.
Inoltre, ci saranno tanti post (io spero) riguardo al Tea Cup Tuesday e Edwardian Tea Party, poichè durante l'anno ho sviluppato di molto questa mia passione, e oramai vanto una discreta collezione che merita di essere condivisa :-) 

Trovo che questa passione per il tè si sposi benissimo con le miniature, poichè si riescono a creare delle piccole e deliziose scene di grande ispirazione...
Per oggi, vi lascio con l'augurio che ognuno di voi possa trovare un po' di serenità e riposo in questa domenica di settembre.

Le petit monde merveilleux de Marie

Cari amici, stamattina ho avuto la meravigliosa sorpresa di trovare un nuovo post di un' amica che da tanto tempo mancava dal blog. Come sempre accade, è stato un grande sollievo perchè, nel corso di un anno, ho avuto modo spesso di chiedermi che cosa le fosse accaduto, senza trovare il coraggio di indagare più approfonditamente...
Del resto, avrei dovuto scrivere questo post almeno un anno fa, quando la sorte mi assegnò di vincere il favoloso giveaway di Marie. Ho sempre rimandato (come tante altre cose), nell'attesa di avere un contesto adeguato per mostrare questo adorabile tavolo per il giardinaggio, così rappresentativo dell'animo romantico e delicato di Marie...
E inoltre, a ben guardare, l'idea di costruire il mio Robin Nest Cottage maturò proprio dopo aver lungamente ammirato l'adorabile Dragonfly Cottage di Marie, più di due anni fa.
Perciò, vedete, c'è un filo rosso che si dipana attraverso il tempo e lo spazio, che lega queste immagini al piccolo meraviglioso mondo di Marie  (clicca) :-)
Poichè, nel frattempo, tanti nuovi amici si sono uniti a questo blog, sarà bellissimo per essi andare a scoprire il talento e la dolcezza della nostra amica belga, se già non la conoscono.

Dear friends, this morning I had the wonderful surprise to find a new post of a friend who was missing from the blog for so long. Colgo l'occasione per annunciare ufficialmente conclusi i lavori di costruzione del mio Cottage.
Sono molto orgogliosa di essere riuscita a rimanere nei tempi che mi ero imposta, nonostante (e forse proprio grazie a) l'assoluta mancanza di tempo!
Questa settimana ho preso contatti con una bravissima artista italiana a cui ho commissionato un lavoro che giustificherà la scelta del nome "The Robin Nest".
Purtroppo la sua waiting list è molto nutrita, perciò sia io sia voi, dovremo attendere la fine di ottobre per scoprire la piccola sorpresa :-)
Qui in Italia ci si prepara al Ferragosto: città semideserte, negozi chiusi, caldo canicolare... La situazione ideale per cominciare ad arredare una casa delle bambole :-)

La mia situazione personale è solo in leggerissima ripresa, perciò e già un grande miglioramento. Grazie a tutti per il supporto e l'incoraggiamento.

I take this opportunity to announce officially concluded the construction of my Cottage. I am very proud to be able to stay in the times that I had set, despite (and perhaps precisely because) the absolute lack of time!
This week, I made ​​contact with a talented Italian artist to whom I have commissioned a work that will justify the choice of the name "The Robin Nest."
Unfortunately, her waiting list is nourished, so both me and you, have to wait for the end of October to discover the little surprise :-)
Here in Italy we are preparing to Ferrafosto: half-deserted city, shops closed, hot heat wave ... The ideal situation to start decorating a dollhouse :-)

My personal situation is only slight recovery, and therefore already a big improvement. Thanks to everyone for the support and encouragement.

Ah, se queste pareti potessero parlare...

Racconterebbero delle mille, piccole tragedie capitate tra colla che non incolla, angoli che non si chiudono, lati che non coincidono, fessure che si aprono ovunque, spessori inopportuni che si creano appena vi girate un momento... Ma , alla fine, ecco il nido quasi pronto :-)
Ho lavorato con uno stato d'animo strano, per nulla serena e concentrata, ma allo stesso tempo febbrilmente, come se si trattasse di una questione di vitale importanza. E forse, è proprio così.
Devo dire che questo kit, davvero intrigante nella quantità e completezza dei dettagli, non è stato per nulla facile da montare e presenta diverse imperfezioni che saranno da colmare con la fantasia, se non con la maestria :-)
Anche la scelta di dipingere tutti i componenti prima dell'assemblaggio, si è rivelata nefasta in più di una occasione: il colore crea spessori e gli spessori creano disastri!
E allora, giù di carta vetrata, cutter, e anche unghie e denti, per cercare di far tornare le cose!
In più, metteteci la quasi assoluta mancanza di tempo e capirete quanto io stessa sia stupita che il risultato sia così carino, in modo quasi commovente :-)

I must say that this kit, very intriguing in the amount of detail and completeness, was not at all easy to assemble and has several flaws that will be filled with fantasy, if not with the skill :-)

Also the choice of all the paint components before assembly, has proved disastrous in more than one occasion: the color create thickness and thicknesses create disasters!

And then, down of sandpaper, cutter, and even tooth and nail to try to return things!

In addition, put the almost complete lack of time and you'll understand what I myself is surprised that the result is so cute, almost touching :-)

Ora, rimane la spinosa questione di ricoprire il tetto con le tegole rispettandone le forme e aggiungere gli ultimi dettagli architettonici forniti con il kit e dopo...
Largo alla fantasia :-)
Lo spazio è sempre troppo poco e ancora non ho preso decisioni definitive riguardo a dove (e se) posizionare le pareti divisorie; però, considerate le finestre che si trovano su tutte le pareti, sarà, credo, necessario, per aggiungere superficie utile.
Vago in giro per la rete alla ricerca di idee.
Vorrei fare mille cose ed è una fortuna se la mattina riesco a malapena a pettinarmi, sigh :-(
Vi abbraccio tutti e mi scuso, mi scuso con tutti per non avere più nemmeno il tempo di scrivere commenti, nè quasi di leggere. Sapere che ci siete, intorno al mondo, è un grande conforto, e spero di poter presto tornare ad esserci anche io.

Qualche aggiornamento / Some update

Cari tutti, per prima cosa grazie per il vostro supporto ed incoraggiamento: nei momenti bui, il pensiero degli amici è davvero una risorsa indispensabile  :-)

Come vedete, sono riuscita a ritagliarmi un po' di tempo per assemblare l'Orchid cottage, le parti portanti della struttura, in modo da poter procedere con la costruzione.
Il lavoro più impegnativo è stato senz'altro assemblare le finestre scorrevoli: pazienza e precisione sono l'ingrediente indispensabile per creare l'illusione. Ancora non sono del tutto soddisfatta: sto pensando a qualche buona idea per aggiungere a ciascuna finestra il meccanismo metallico di chiusura.

Questo è ancora soltanto un guscio, sono ancora visibili tutti i punti di giuntura che andranno ritoccati col colore e coperti con i vari dettagli architettonici. Gli scalini all'ingresso rappresentano la struttura portante del portico che potrà essere montato solo dopo il tetto.

Dear all, first thanks for your support and encouragement: in the darkest hours, the thought of friends is truly an indispensable resource :-)

As you see, I managed to carve out some time to assemble the Orchid cottage, supporting parts of the structure, in order to proceed with the construction.
The biggest job was definitely assemble the sliding windows: patience and precision are the key ingredient to create the illusion. Still I am not entirely satisfied: I'm thinking of some good ideas to add to each window the metal locking mechanism.

This is still only a shell, you can still see all the joints that will be touched up with color and covered with various architectural details. The steps at the entrance are the backbone of the porch that can only be installed after the roof.

La novità più eclatante, rispetto ai miei progetti iniziali, riguarda il fatto che ho deciso di non tappezzare l'interno, ma dipingere tutto di un delicato color cipria. Questa decisione è maturata dopo attenta riflessione: ho definitivamente capito che non mi piace creare troppa confusione tra la carta da parati e il colore di mobili e accessori, specie considerando che utilizzerò questa casa come set fotografico per le mie miniature. Perciò ho preferito lasciare neutre le pareti, perchè essi costituiscano uno sfondo perfetto per esporre oggetti di qualunque colore. Poichè la casa è dotata di due pareti divisorie mobili, è possibile che io utilizzi su quelle la carta da parati, in modo da creare contrasto senza che questo sia troppo vincolante.

Per i due pavimenti, ho optato per una semplice tecnica, efficace e veloce: ho inciso direttamente sul legno i solchi che creano l'effetto del tavolato, poi ho dipinto con alcune mani di acrilico bianco.
Questo è uno dei motivi per cui consiglio lo stile shabby anche ad un neofita: la possibilità di utilizzare i colori per coprire legni poco pregiati, ottenendo risultati molto convincenti, sia per quanto riguarda la casa sia per quanto riguarda  il mobilio.

For the two floors, I opted for a simple technique, effective and easy: I carved the tracks directly on the wood to create the effect of the plateau, then I painted a few coats of white acrylic.
This is one reason why I recommend the shabby style even to a novice: the ability to use color to cover wood not valuable, with results very convincing, both as regards the house and furniture.

Sto lavorando ad alcuni ordini su commissione, e non ho resistito a provare la stufa a carbone, ancora da finire, per apprezzare il contrasto: ne sono molto soddisfatta :-)
Devo dire che, nonostante le difficoltà di questa estate, è sempre una gioia giocare con la casa delle bambole :-)

I'm working on some custom orders, and I could not resist trying the cooking range, unfinished, to appreciate the contrast: I am very satisfied :-)
I must say that despite the difficulties of this summer, is always a joy to play with the doll house :-)

Prendete una mamma 76 enne allettata con due vertebre fratturate; 

aggiungete una sorella ricoverata in ospedale con gravi complicazioni seguite ad un intervento chirurgico;
spolverate con il malumore di una bimba di tre anni, sempre chiusa in casa; 

il malumore di un marito alle prese con difficoltà sul lavoro, senza nessuna prospettiva di imminenti vacanze.
Mescolate il tutto fino ad ottenere un composto omogeneo e lasciate lievitare il tutto per qualche mese, quindi cuocete ogni giorno a 40°C dentro l'abitacolo della'auto nel traffico di luglio.
Otterrete ...
...un'amica abbastanza vicina all'orlo della disperazione!
Però, non voglio pensare nero ma rosa (come sempre) e vi lascio con questa golosa immagine di biscotti e tè :-)
In questa situazione la costruzione del nuovo cottage (manca ancora nome) sta procedendo lentissimamente, però qualcosa si muove. Spero di poter presto pubblicare un post con le immagini.

Innanzitutto ringrazio tutti per l'interesse che avete dimostrato per la costruzione del kit: naturalmente, risponderò con piacere a questa nuova sfida.
Anzi, do il benvenuto ai nuovi lettori, che si sono aggiunti proprio per essere stati attratti dalla prospettiva di vedere come procederanno i lavori. Ora mi sento una grande responsabilità :-)

First of all thank you all for the interest you have shown for the construction of the kit: Of course, I will answer with pleasure to this new challenge.

Dunque, cominciamo col dire che il kit si compone di un certo numero di fogli di legno pretagliati (cioè, ogni singolo pezzo della casa và staccato con attenzione, carteggiato e preparato in base alle proprie scelte).
Fin dal primo momento, si impone la decisione se decorare la casa una volta che la costruzione è completata, oppure procedere con la decorazione PRIMA della costruzione.
Io ho optato per questa seconda soluzione, perchè il lavoro è più facile e più preciso, sebbene sia inizialmente molto più lento, e necessiti di maggiore capacità di immaginazione.
Le primissime fasi di lavorazione riguardano comunque la preparazione degli infissi - porta, finestre e lucernai.
Poichè io ho deciso di utilizzare soltanto due colori - il bianco e il carta da zucchero pallido - non ho corso il rischio di fare confusione.
Ho staccato tutti i pezzi nell'ordine in cui venivano chiamati dalle istruzioni, ho carteggiato leggermente (finirò questo lavoro subito prima di fissare i pezzi alla struttura, anche per eliminare eventuali accumuli di acrilico), ho steso una mano di primer (turapori acrilico, evita di passare troppe mani di colore), ho dipinto del colore scelto, cioè il bianco.
Nel frattempo, ho preparato con lo stesso procedimento anche l'esterno della facciata e dei due lati, dipingendo color carta da zucchero.
Il kit, arriva già completo di un foglio di acetato, in cui sono pretagliati i vetri acidati; ho completato incollando i vetri agli infissi (utilizzo solo colla vinilica, come raccomandato; il cianoacrilato, tipo l'Attak, rovinerebbe l'acetato, rendendolo opaco senza rimedio!)

Since I have decided to use only two colors - white and pale sugar paper - I have not run the risk of confusion.
I unplugged all the pieces in the order they were called by the instructions, I lightly sanded (I'll finish this work shortly before to fix the pieces to the structure, also to remove any buildup of acrylic), I spread a coat of primer (sealer acrylic, it avoids passing too many coats of paint), I painted the color chosen, ie white.
In the meantime, I prepared by the same process also the outside of the facade and of the two sides, painting colored sugar paper.
The kit already comes complete with a sheet of acetate, which are pre-cut etched glass; I finished gluing the glazing to windows (use only white glue, as recommended; cyanoacrylate, like the Attak, would ruin the transparency, making it mat without remedy!)

A questo punto, poichè ho deciso di procedere con la decorazione di ogni singolo pezzo prima dell'assemblaggio definitivo, devo scegliere la carta da parati con cui cominciare a rivestire le tre pareti interne. Date le dimensioni ridotte, ho deciso che posso stampare in casa la carta da parati, perchè i fogli A4 sono sufficienti a coprire la superficie. Naturalmente, questo è comunque un lavoro molto delicato, a partire dalla scelta della fantasia da utilizzare, perchè lo spazio è molto ridotto e non bisogna appesantirlo con colori o soggetti troppo "pieni".
Sto valutando diverse opzioni, ma naturalmente tutto sarò all'insegna del bianco e dei colori pastello :-)

Ok, mi ha preso il sacro furore!
Una volta decisi i colori, non ci sono più scuse: bisogna cominciare.
Le istruzioni per il montaggio, oramai, le conosco a memoria in almeno due lingue, essendo state la mia principale lettura per gli ultimi due mesi.
Ho visitato tutti i possibili siti e blog che mi avete suggerito e mi sono fatta delle idee abbastanza precise sul risultato che voglio ottenere, perciò...
All'opera :-)

P.S.
Quanti di voi sono seriamente interessati a seguire tutte le fasi della lavorazione?
Sono tuttora molto indecisa se fotografare e pubblicare questo genere di informazioni, più che altro per questioni di pigrizia...
Però sono disposta a fare il sacrificio se mi dite di essere interessati :-)

Come vedete, amici miei, mi preparo a questo primo pomeriggio d'estate con le migliori intenzioni: un bel bicchiere (o due) di limonata fresca, un buon libro da leggere, tanti accessori colorati per rendere allegro questo momento di relax.
Ho preparato questa piccola scena per dare il benvenuto alla nuova stagione, utilizzando alcuni degli acquisti destinati alla Orchid House.
Ho comprato tanti piccoli accessori che vorrei presentare già inseriti nella nuova casa, ma non resisto più oltre, qualcosa devo farvi vedere :-)

Cari amici, innanzitutto un abbraccio affettuoso.
Ormai è trascorso quasi un mese dal mio ultimo post ma, nonostante il silenzio, come sempre molti progetti sono maturati e hanno preso vita.
Come già alcuni di voi sapranno, tra le mie passioni c'è anche quella per gli oggetti antichi, la quale da principio mi ha portato ad osservare, poi a studiare, ed infine a collezionare piccoli pezzi, legati alla vita quotidiana di un tempo passato, che io mi sforzo di preservare e fare rivivere nel mio mondo.
Qualche tempo fa accennai al fatto che per il mio quarantesimo compleanno ho avuto la grande gioia di riuscire ad organizzare un Edwardian Tea Party al quale ho invitato solo pochi intimi... E' stata una meravigliosa occasione per trasformare il mio salotto in una porta nel tempo. Io ho accolto gli invitati indossando uno dei mie abiti da tè del 1900 e una elaborata acconciatura stile "gibson girl".
La tavola era apparecchiata con grande cura e tutto, dalla tovaglia alle posate, dai piatti alle tazze, dalla teiera ai tovaglioli era assolutamente originale dell'epoca. Perfino la musica in sottofondo era quella giusta, la stessa che l'orchestra suonava sul Titanic, nel 1912...
Il menù è stato attentamente studiato e ho cercato di riprodurre, anche nei sapori, l'atmosfera di un salotto del 1900.
In un angolo della stanza, il mio baule da viaggio edoardiano stava aperto, svelando finalmente tutto il suo prezioso e delicato contenuto e, per una volta, non c'era il divieto di toccare ma, al contrario, l'invito a curiosare tra mutandoni, camicie da notte, corsetti, calze, scarpe, sottogonne, vecchie bambole, perfino un ombrellino parasole, uno dei mie pezzi più preziosi...
Un manichino indossava il completo da giorno in seta e l'insieme era così affascinante che le ore sono volate senza che ce ne accorgessimo.
Ho letto, negli occhi dei miei pochi invitati, una gioia pura ed inattesa per avere potuto prendere parte ad un pomeriggio così diverso e lontanissimo da qualunque cosa loro si attendessero (nessuno di essi sapeva niente in anticipo, ciascuno ha ricevuto a casa un invito alquanto misterioso...)
Dopo aver fatto cenno a questo tea party edoardiano, molto di voi si sono detti curiosi di sapere di più in proposito, anche perchè, misteriosamente, l'amore per il tè è una delle cose che accomuna i miniaturisti, proprio come i gatti, il giardinaggio e il ricamo...
Ebbene, sappiate che non esiste una solo foto di questo straordinario pomeriggio. Io stessa ho voluto che per una volta, dimenticassimo di catturare le emozioni in qualche immagine banale, ma vivessimo intensamente quelle ore indimenticabili e fuggitive :-)
Mentre mi preparavo ad organizzare il mio tea party, ho scoperto che esiste una splendida occasione di condivisione della magica atmosfera che il tè è capace di creare, e che ogni martedì si rinnova in decine e decine di splendidi post che fanno davvero il giro del mondo: il Tea Cup Tuesday.
Così ho deciso di partecipare anche io, mostrando a tutti la mia piccola collezione e, di volta in volta, raccontando aneddoti, curiosità, ricette, e pettegolezzi legati da sempre alla vita privata delle donne.
Mi è stato spiegato da Terri, una delle gentili "padrone di casa", che ciascuno può organizzare il proprio Tea Cup Tuesday con uno stile diverso, fermo restando che deve comparire, naturalmente, almeno una tazza :-)
Perciò da oggi, cari amici, io assolverò al felice piacere di condividere le mie tazze, e insieme ad esse tutto il mio amore per il periodo Vittoriano ed Edoardiano, età dell'oro per la cerimonia del tè, in cui si è sublimata tutta la bellezza e poesia ed eleganza effimare di cui uomini e donne siano capaci.
Effimera ma indispensabile...

Dear friend, first of all an affectionate embrace.
It is now almost a month since my last post but, despite the silence, as always, many projects have matured and have come to life.
As some of you may know, one of my passions is also the one for antiques, which at first led me to observe, then to study, and finally to collect small pieces of daily life of a bygone, which I endeavor to preserve and revive in my world.
Some time ago I mentioned that to my fortieth birthday I had the great joy of being able to organize an Edwardian Tea Party to which I have only invited a few close friends ... It was a wonderful opportunity to transform my living room into a doorway in time. I welcomed the guests wearing one of my 1900 tea dresses and an elaborate "gibson girl" hairstyle.
The table was laid with great care and everything, from tablecloth to cutlery, from dishes to cups, from napkins to teapot, was absolutely original. Even the background music was the right one, the same as the band played on the Titanic in 1912 ...
The menu has been carefully studied and tried to play, even in the flavors, the ambience of a living room in 1900.
In one corner of the room, my Edwardian traveling trunk was opened, finally revealing all his precious and delicate content and, for once, there was not a ban on touching but rather, an invitation to browse through panties, nightgowns, corsets, stockings, shoes, petticoats, old dolls, even a parasol, one of most valuable pieces in my collection...
A mannequin wearing the outfit in silk and the whole day was so charming that hours have flown without our noticing.
I read in the eyes of my few guests, a pure and unexpected joy to have been able to take part in an afternoon so different and yet very far from anything they had expected (none of them knew anything in advance, each received a call at home rather mysterious ...)
After making mention of this Edwardian tea party, a lot of you said they were curious to know more about it, also because, mysteriously, the love of tea is one of the things that unites the miniaturists, just like cats, gardening and embroidery ...
Well, know that there is not only a picture of this extraordinary afternoon. I myself have wanted that for once, forget about capturing the emotions in some trivial image, but intensely lived those unforgettable hours and fugitive :-)
While I was preparing to organize my tea party, I discovered that there is a wonderful opportunity to share the magical atmosphere that tea is able to create, which is renewed every Tuesday in dozens and dozens of posts that are really beautiful around the world : Tea Cup Tuesday.
So I decided to participate in, showing to all my little collection, and from time to time, telling anecdotes, trivia, recipes, and gossip that has always been tied to the private lives of women.
I was told by Terri, one of kind "landladies", that you can organize your Tea Cup on Tuesday with a different style, except that should occur, of course, at least one cup :-)
So now, dear friends, I absolve the happy pleasure to share my cups, and along with them all my love for Victorian and Edwardian period, golden age for the tea ceremony, in which its sublimated all ephemeral beauty and poetry and elegance of which men and women are capable.
Ephemeral but essential ...

Per il mio primo Tea Cup Tuesday ho scelto questo splendido trio di epoca Vittoriana, il quale mi è sembrato particolarmente adatto all'occasione, perchè è semplice, elegante, colorato, pieno di attrattiva, senza essere invadente o pomposo, proprio come vorrebbe essere questa serie di pagine dedicate al tè.
Premetto, a beneficio dei collezionisti esperti, che la mia collezione è frutto più che altro di acquisti istintivi, basati più sul mio gusto personale e sulle mie emozioni, piuttosto che sul valore intrinseco delle tazze. Io non ho ancora esperienza e conoscienze sufficienti per poter valutare appieno il vero valore di questi oggetti e prego chiunque ravvisi qualche errore nelle mie didascalie, di intervenire, e correggermi :-)

For my first tea cup Tuesday, I chose this beautiful Victorian era tea trio, which seemed particularly appropriate for the occasion, because it is simple, elegant, colorful, full of charm, without being obtrusive or ostentatious, just as would be this series of pages devoted to tea.
I state for the benefit of expert collectors, that my collection is the result mostly of purchases instinctive, based more on my personal taste and my emotions, rather than the intrinsic value of the cups. I have not yet sufficient experience and knowledges to fully assess the true value of these objects and I ask anyone who considers a mistake in my captions, to intervene and correct me :-)

L'interno della tazza è delicatamente decorato con lo stesso motivo floreale dell'esterno, perciò ho preferito immortalare l'immagine prima di riempire la tazza di tè.
Il trio è composto dalla tazza, dal piattino, e dal piatto da dolce, perfetto per gustare la nera bevanda in compagnia delle prelibatezze preferite dalla Regina Vittoria, e in auge fino ai giorni nostri (ma di questo parleremo in un altro post).
In nessuno dei tre pezzi è presente alcun marchio o numero.

Il bordo dorato è ancora pieno, corposo, intatto.

The inside of the cup is delicately decorated with the same floral pattern of the exterior, so I decided to capture the image before filling the cup of tea.
The trio is composed of the cup, the saucer and the cake plate, perfect for enjoying the black beverage in the accompanied with the delicacies preferred by Queen Victoria, and in vogue to this day (but more about that in another post).
In none of the three pieces is no mark or number.

The gold rim is still full-bodied, intact.

Ho apparecchiato il piccolo tavolo da caffè della mia veranda per servire questo rinfrescante tè estivo, utilizzando una candida tovaglia irlandese (1900 circa), impreziosita da splendidi ricami: il tessuto è così consumato che io la utilizzo solo per farla ammirare da qualche amica appassionata (e da voi) ma non oso utilizzarla per mangiare, perchè se si macchiasse sarebbe un disastro!

I prepared my small coffee table in my sunroom, to serve this refreshing summer tea, using a white Irish tablecloth  (1900 approx), embellished with beautiful embroidery: the fabric is so worn that I use it only to see some friends passionate (and you) but I dare not use it to eat, because if you stain it would be a disaster!

Il tovagliolo con il mio monogramma (1900 circa) è in realtà uno splendido fazzoletto da sposa, di garza di cotone, grande quanto una tovaglietta!

The napkin with my monogram (1900 approx) is actually a beautiful wedding handkerchiefs, cotton gauze, big as a placemat!

Il vassoio è un pezzo edoardiano inglese, 1900 circa.

Le posate in silver plated, che in futuro compariranno spesso, in compagnia di altre, fanno parte di tre servizi differenti, tutti di epoca Edoardiana, e rappresentano l'apparato minimo indispensabile per gustare un buon tè pomeridiano: il cucchiaino, la forchetta per il dolce (da notare che uno dei rebbi funge anche da coltello), la spatola per il burro (immancabile per toast e scones).

The silver plated cutlery, which often appear in the future, in the company of others, is part of three different services, all of the Edwardian era, and they represent the minimum apparatus necessary to enjoy a relaxing afternoon tea: the spoon, a fork for dessert (note that one of the prongs doubles as a knife), a butter spatula (a must for toast and scones).

Questo trio è l'ultimo che ho acquisito in ordine di tempo, e spero di poterlo utilizzare al prossimo Edwardian Tea Party :-)
