The Robin Nest Cottage

Ah, if these walls could talk ...
They would tell of the thousand, small tragedies which have happened between glue which is not sticky, angles that do not close, sides that do not coincide, cracks that open everywhere, inappropriate thicknesses that are created when you turn a moment ... But in the end, here is the nest almost ready :-)
I worked with a strange state of mind, not at all calm and focused, but at the same time feverishly, as if it were a matter of vital importance. And perhaps it is.
I must say that this kit, very intriguing in the amount of detail and completeness, was not at all easy to assemble and has several flaws that will be filled with fantasy, if not with the skill :-)
Also the choice of all the paint components before assembly, has proved disastrous in more than one occasion: the color create thickness and thicknesses create disasters!
And then, down of sandpaper, cutter, and even tooth and nail to try to return things!
In addition, put the almost complete lack of time and you'll understand what I myself is surprised that the result is so cute, almost touching :-)

Now, there remains the thorny question of covering the roof with tiles respecting the forms and add the latest architectural details provided with the kit and after ...
Make room for the imagination :-)
Space is always too little and still have not made final decisions about where (and if) positioning the partitions, however, considered that the windows are on all the walls, I think it will be necessary, to add surface area.
I wander around the net looking for ideas.
I would do a thousand things and it is fortunate if in the morning I can barely comb my hair, sigh :-(
I embrace you all and I apologize, I apologize to everyone for not having time even to write comments, or almost read. Knowing you're there, around the world, is a great comfort, and I hope to soon get back to be there!

Mini (1 inch) lovely hugs to all

  1. Hi Flora! Your little nest is adorable! I love your color choices and attention to detail. I experienced the same troubles when I painted the surfaces of my Greenleaf before attaching the boards together. I still haven't done all of the sanding required, so I just have the walls leaning together! Thank goodness my Duracraft house found me. That is the one I am working on now, one that was pre-built! :-) Your result here, however, is fantastic, and I am so happy for you. Enjoy the fruits of your hard labor--you have birthed a beautiful baby! xo Jennifer

  5. Your mini house is adorable... Putting together these little houses can certainly be a challenge at times...I've had my fair share. When things don't go as planned, I just make it up! Push, prod, pull, twist, hold, glue! Whew, it can be daunting, but look at how darling The Robins Nest is coming along. GOOD WORK! Keep going...it's all in the journey...as everyone seems to say.lol
    Have a fantastic weekend.

  6. Flora, please forgive me for finding humour in your small tragedies but I cannot help laughing at my mental picture of you biting and clawing at the pieces of this misbehaving house! ;) Anyway it certainly looks tamed now, and most delightful xx
