La casa Georgiana - The Georgian House

Dear friends, I would like to thank all those who always follow this blog with lots of love while being different from my language, I know that lately the gadget, "Google Translator" has created problems more or less to all, making it impossible to read, so I decided to insert the text also available in English.
I really like my language, Italian, giving me the opportunity to express myself better, but of course it becomes completely useless if nobody (or almost) is able to read ...
I apologize in advance for any errors (and horrors) of spelling and syntax, due to the basic knowledge of English on my part, which makes the translation work difficult, even when you can rely on Google Translator ...
Hopefully, this effort will serve to reciprocate a little the estimate and interest that always you proved to me :-)

Already from a few posts ago, you can find the translate, so as to resume the reading and the latest news about me.

In these days of vacation I have dedicated myself primarily to the study of various materials on the Georgian doll's house: in the first photo are shows the three books I purchased on Amazon on this subject. None of them has to be considered exhaustive, but together they may be a good starting point.

As I have explained, I have decided to give life to the new doll's house in Georgian style because I am absolutely fascinated by the elegance formal that characterized this period (1714 - 1830) in England.
I am fortunate to follow with interest the three blogs of Irene, the gracious Scotland Lady who kindly offered to procure for me the valuable material regarding the many beautiful Georgian property located in her country, as a source of inspiration: for several days, I daydream about the brochures that she sent to me, full of pictures and news.
All images in this post relate to the Georgian House in Edinburgh

In this glimpse of the kitchen is enclosed the charm of that era: not the Middle Ages, not yet modern era...

A limbo full of turmoil in which innovation and tradition coexist.
Thomas Chippendale and Robert Adam affirm themselves respectively as the cabinet-maker and an architect and interior designer the other, featuring the most important examples of this period.

Wow!

Wow! I still have much to learn before starting work ...
But, as always, I am very grateful to everyone for the support, even material, that you can manage to give to my ideas, since the beginning of the adventure on the Blog.

Dear Irene, now this post is dedicated to you, for giving me the thing that I consider most precious to me: having spent a little of your time and your thoughts for my delight...

THANKS :-)

  1. Flora dear, I hope to be able to say, in English too, because I am enthusiastic about your choice ... your Georgian house, will be much more beautiful and austere than Victorian, and you know that I do not like the "fronzoli" .. Oh God, how do we put this? :))
Now I'll explain why I fell head over heels in Edunburgo, years ago, when I saw it with Franco, and the idea of the doll's house was still an embryo in my mind ...
(translated with Google Translator ... ha ha!)

I agree, it`s not so easy to express things in an other language, but maybe we will learn more as we go along, and that is a bonus :)
It will be exiting to see what you are going to built.

  5. I always read your blog with the google translator, and sometimes not necessary because the Italian has similarities with the Spanish, however, is welcome to put the English translation, as it is the most international language and has the fewest translation errors. I look forward to your Georgian house project, it must be divine! kisses

  7. Flora, Your house is going to be Exquisite! I LOVE the pictures you have shown! Here in America the Georgian era is called the Colonial Period because we were still Colonies... but the living was much more primitive in this untamed land so the homes were not as elegant as in England. But we copied the styles as much as we could! I can't wait to see what you will build!

Now I definitely can't wait for the start of your Georgian House.

  9. Dear Flora,
Let me first thank you for the English version of your blog. I am always frustrated when I visit a blog and can't understand what's written -;) And I understand how you feel regarding your mother tongue. But from you to me : you know that English has won a long time ago ...
I love your project ! And I am looking forward your progress. I am not at home right now but as soon as I come back in Paris I'll see what might interested you in my bookcase.
    Have fun !

  16. Dear Flora: Thank you for writing your blog in English. I am looking forward to your new project. Your future Georgian house brings to mind all the romantic novels of Georgette Heyer which I have so thoroughly enjoyed over the years. She is by far my favourite author of all the books written which take place during the Georgian era. It is such a colourful and interesting era. I just know that your house will be fascinating and as lovely as is your beautiful Victorian.

  17. You know Flora, being bilingual on your blog may be a bit of a bother as you think you are not fluent in the English language but can I assure you that your English is just as poetic as your Italian?

It is much easier for me to read your post now and so I thank you. I have recently published a post on my projects blog http://sansddprojects.blogspot.com/2011/08/gifts-swaps-thrills-floras-mini.html on my collection of dollhouse books and I hope you will find some time to read it :).

I have written earlier about how much I am looking forward to seeing your Georgian House come into fruition :) and as I read about how you are poring over these books, I am more and more convinced that your house will be a masterpiece.

PS because of you , I have placed an order for The Ultimate Dolls' house book by Faith Eaton :)

  19. Flora,
I know it's terrible to think summer is about to finish, but at least we will get to see your project take shape. I think it's wonderful that you spend so much time researching your project before you start! And your english is VERY good, so don't ever feel intimidated. it's always a pleasure to follow your posts...in both languages ;)

  20. Hello Flora,

I am so excited to find some one about to embark on a Georgian House.
I too am beginning a Georgian house I have bought from a kit, I also have had a fascination with this period and i have been searching for blogs on Georgian houses.
This will be my first miniature unlike your extensive experience, so I wait with anticipation the progress on your house.

Your blog is lovely and caught my eye immediately, I look forward to your posts and wish you good luck in your research.

    Warm regards, Fiona
