I am so glad we have washing machines now! You and I have the same sink in our Victorian kitchens. The wash tub looks great with the washboard and the washing waiting to be done!
I remembered a time when I was a child and we have a washboard in the bathroom. How it looked is still vivid in my mind because every time I bathed, I would see it . Mum made us learned how to wash clothes by hand because there would always be a piece or two that are too precious for the washing machine.
Mum still own a washboard and if I see one now, I will buy one for my own home too. I am glad we have moved to easier ways of doing things but some traditional methods should never be entirely abandoned.
Thank you for the memories this scene evoke, Flora. I am so happy I have a laundry basket from you. Felt like a link with this post even though the items are thousands of miles apart. :)
